Ethnic and national issues in Russian and East European history

edited by John Morison

Russia, the former Soviet Union and the lands of the former Hapsburg Empire have an extraordinarily complex and varied pattern of ethnic settlement which has extended a great influence of their historical development. This volume seeks new interpretations and confronts issues as diverse as the political role of Czech gymnastic clubs, Russian Muslim relations in the Russian Empire, the ethnic factor in Stalin's purges, and the nature of Russian imperialism in Finland.
